Edinson Argot is not an ordinary person. His story is difficult and complex, yet rich with strength and inspiration. An orphan raised by his sisters, he left home at just 11 years old to work. After serving in the army, at the age of 20 he began working at a processing station in the Huila region. There he encountered everything—specialty coffee and commercial coffee alike. He learned all the stages of production: depulping, washing, drying, fermentation, hulling. Most importantly, whether it was commercial or specialty, every stage involved rigorous quality control on a large scale. This deeply inspired him, and he enrolled in various coffee training courses. What he enjoyed the most, however, was cupping. That is where he decided to focus his passion.

As head of quality control at a renowned farm in Piendamó, Edinson became a strong advocate for controlled fermentations, using yeasts and precise temperature management. He declared: “I want to do this my own way,”—and such professionalism and ambition deserves a standing ovation.

Edinson’s partner, Luz Angela, also comes from a family of coffee producers. Together they bought their first farm—Quebraditas—a small property of just eight hectares. But here they planted mostly exotic varieties such as Pink Bourbon, Sidra, and Geisha, and immediately achieved something extraordinary. The coffee is incredibly intense, with a vast palette of descriptors and intensifiers—strawberry, melon, flowers, quince, and so much more. The texture of the brews is something you simply have to experience. Though the project is still young, the farmer already has ambitious plans to cooperate with other producers and embark on even more remarkable experiments. Perhaps in ten years we will no longer recognize coffee as it once was. But everything flows, and everything changes.

It should also be noted that this lot is composed entirely of the unique Sidra variety—a cross between Bourbon and Typica, two foundational and expressive cultivars, artificially combined to create a special balance. Its genetics powerfully emphasize the uniqueness of the processing and deliver an unreal, truly exceptional coffee.
