ORLANDO SOSA

Coffee with a vision for the future
Loud and intense – this coffee bursts with flavor, striking with notes of red berries that are quickly complemented by a sip of peach juice and strawberry. As it cools, a candy-like sweetness emerges, bringing with it a new intensity to the peach

FULL INFORMATION ABOUT COFFEE

COFFEE WITH A VISION FOR THE FUTURE

The small farm El Porvenir, which in Spanish translates as “The Future”, is located in the community of La Pradera, in the municipality of Gigante, Huila region. It lies not far from Colombia’s largest volcano – Nevado del Huila – on rich, fertile volcanic soils.

Orlando Sosa González cultivates his coffee on this modest farm together with his wife. Most of his trees are of the Castillo variety – a hybrid of juicy Caturra and the highly disease-resistant Timor. As a result, Castillo delivers an exceptional cup quality.

The classic natural process begins with careful washing of the cherries and removal of floaters. Floaters are the cherries that remain on the water’s surface when submerged, indicating underripe or defective beans. After this selection, the cherries are spread on raised African beds to dry in the sun for 15–21 days, until the coffee reaches 12% moisture content. Afterwards, the beans are hulled to remove the parchment and any dried pulp.

Orlando González’s specialty coffee shines with its berry-and-fruit bouquet. The natural process beautifully highlights the characteristics of this cool terroir and works in synergy with the juicy Colombian variety.
